That's because the face is for the crowd, to sell to them that the fight is real, and that Stevenson is a developing superstar. You can see Valdez missing on purpose to make Stevenson look like he has amazing head movement. I mean, Stevenson is missing on purpose too, but you get the idea. The script is to make Stevenson look like an alien from outer space. In order to make that happen, Valdez has to look like he's never fought before, and that Stevenson suddenly hits like Sergey Kovalev. But when Sergey Kovalev faces the big star Canelo, suddenly Sergey Kovalev looks like he can only punch like Shakur Stevenson, know what Im saying? Whatever the script demands on the night, that's what happens, and suddenly the boxers will look totally different than before.
