  • Comments Thread For: Hearn: Obviously More Beneficial For DiBella To Do Kambosos-Haney Deal With ESPN

One of the last things Eddie Hearn would've wanted was for a talented, undefeated fighter in whom his company and corporate partner have invested substantial time and money to leave for competitors.

DAZN have invested a good few million into building Haney and they’re getting 0% of the payoff. Awful negotiating from Hearn. He’s been played.

With a multi fight deal with Arum Haney could very well have struck gold. He could beat Kambosos then drop the belts and move straight in to a undisputed fight with Josh Taylor. I know Taylor said he is done at 140 but there is plenty of appeal and money in that fight. Undisputed 135 undefeated champion against undisputed 140 undefeated champion. The fight sales itself to the casuals and both fighters should believe they can win.

Both are trained by Ben Davidson(Haney Co-trained maybe but he’s definitely involved in some capacity) so that fight is unlikely to happen anytime soon

No, the play would be to fight Lopez at 140 not Taylor. And Taylor is going to vacate the belts very soon so it won't be an undisputed vs undisputed match up. Heck, Taylor won't be at 140 for long.

Haney has good options if he is able to beat Kambosos two times.

Horrible look for Hearn and DAZN they spent time and millions on Haney overpaying him for fights that lost money against lower level competition in hopes of cashing in on big profile fights instead he walks to another network who reaps the big profile fights and he's locked into a multi fight deal. Seems like they are letting Andrade walk as well. I don't know what they are doing with "Matchroom USA" because that has been a epic failure. All that money and Hearn couldn't lure any big stars and just overpaid guys like Andrade, Haney, Farmer, Jesse Vargas. You got Canelo who is signed to fight in 2022 but other then him and he's not signed next year who else do they have to drive the US market?

Why would Haney go back to Hearn and DAZN? They couldn't get him any big fights. If he beats Kamboso, then wins the rematch. Then beats Lomachenko. Top Rank and ESPN could make him a offer for the Lopez fight to get him to sign another multi fight deal. Top Rank can offer him Taylor, Shakur Stevenson is big and will be moving up and Top Rank has recently made deals with PBC. You got a better chance of landing a fight with a PBC fighter like Tank that Top Rank brokers then you do with Hearn and DAZN. Or Haney can sign a multi fight deal directly with PBC after his deal ends with ESPN.

ESPN and Top Rank made the investment to assure that Loma gets the winner it is all about Loma, they don't care about Haney or Kambosos whom Arum has repeatedly said he is not impressed with at all

Well why didn't they give him a contract extension? Haney is a free agent. DAZN /Matchroom could've given him a contract extension.
