  • Comments Thread For: Joet Gonzalez Stops Tough Jeo Santisima In 9th Round On Ramirez-Pedraza Undercard

Joet Gonzalez engaged in another action-packed fight Friday night. Four-and-a-half months after his one-sided defeat to Emanuel Navarrete, though, the featherweight contender stopped a game Jeo Santisima in the ninth round of a scheduled 10-round bout in Fresno, California. Santisima showed a lot of toughness and was mostly competitive, but referee Edward Collantes halted the action after Gonzalez landed a right hand 2:05 into the ninth round on the Jose Ramirez-Jose Pedraza undercard at Save Mart Center.

This is a bad stoppage. It’s not like Santisima was going to win but fair is fair. It has to be even across the board. Boxing is so inconsistent it’s frustrating

I don't like to see fights stooped when a guy is protecting himself and throwing punches. That said , Santisima was taking a lot of clean punches to the head and the Ref did what he felt was right. Better a punch too early than a punch too late.
