This is just another form of cheating, there are weight divisions for a reason if you can't make the weight then that's not your division.
Stop trying to get an unfair advantage over your opponent'(s), he shouldn't have been allowed to fight, gotten suspended, and fined.
How much do you want to bet that if they have to suffer the 3 consequences stated above, that they'll either start making weight or
move up to the appropriate division.
Some of these fighters are entering the ring with a 5-20 pound advantage over their opponent, and contracted weight for their fight.

I don't understand why they didn't give Melendez, Rafael Reyes guy only weighed 133 and is 20-13 perfect opponent for him . They should have just straight up switched opponents

How does a 5'4" guy come overweight for a 135lb fight? Giron isnt even muscular.

Exactly! Melendez is still going to get paid even though he's not going to fight on this fight card, it's still a lost opportunity to stay active.
These things do affect the fighter who after making the necessary sacrifices to make wait, gets his fight canceled because his opponent didn't.
Maybe next time around Melendez doesn't push himself so hard to make wait, thinking that he can get away without making wait, and still fight.
There's a cause, and effect factor involving everything in life, now Girron is going to think that he got away with it this time, he can get away with again.
The ironic thing about this whole situation is that the guy who didn't make the contractual weight is still going to fight, but the one who did is not.
Why is boxing so backwards when it comes resolving the simplest problems that arise during the course of conducting business, or enforcing their rules.
The only upside to this is that Rene Tellez Girron versus Giovanni Cabrera might turn out to be a better fight than if he had fought Luis Melendez.
