  • Comments Thread For: Robson Conceicao: Oscar Valdez Should've Been Banned For At Least One Year From The Sport

By Keith Idec - Robson Conceicao tested Oscar Valdez in the Brazilian boxer's first world title fight four months ago. The 2016 Olympian's performance versus Valdez validated that he is a credible contender in the 130-pound division and moved him into another high-stakes fight against Xavier Martinez on Saturday night. Conceicao still wishes the 12-round, 130-pound championship match he lost by unanimous decision never happened.

Canelo Alvarez, Luis Nery, and Oscar Valdez, should all be banned from boxing for their illegal substance abuse, it should be one, and done.
The only way that you'll get performance enhancing drugs out of the sport is if you revoke their license, and black list them.

I agree that doping violation should be dealt with much more severely than it is at present.
However, there still needs to be done contingency for the occasional genuine case of a fighter somehow unintentionally ending up with having ingested some banned substance.
I don't know enough about the processes to known if/how this could be done, and also realise that it'll be the "go to" excuse for all the dopers - just like it is now.
So maybe automatic 1 year ban for first offence, with discretion for it to be linger for high levels or whatever?
After that, any further offences its lifetime ban.
Having typed all that I should just press "cancel" as it won't ever happen! Thanks.

Eddy Reynoso is a cancer to the sport - no more to be said.

Many thought Valdez lost to Robson. He certainly will be outboxed by Stevenson.

He's right but if he feels so strongly about it he should have pulled out of the fight.

Yes but WBC backing Valdez put him in a very bad position and I'm sure there would have been a lot of pressure from TR on him to go through with the fight.
