  • Comments Thread For: Thurman Makes Case For Pay-Per-View: No Sport Like Boxing, Every Punch To The Head Is A Mild Concussion!

Keith Thurman has a passionate pitch for those criticizing the fact that his next bout will be staged on pay-per-view. The former welterweight titleholder will break a two-and-a-half year sabbatical from the ring when he faces Mario Barrios on Fox Pay-Per-View on Feb. 5 at the Michelob ULTRA Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.

PPV should be about value. Thurman vs Barrios has no value. Neither did Ortiz vs Martin. Capitalism will sort this out. Good luck with those buys.

I'm not happy this is on PPV. Thurman-Porter wasn't PPV. Thurman-Garcia wasn't PPV. And those could have been on PPV and people wouldn't have complained. That being said, I'm a big fan of Thurman so I'm going to buy the PPV. If I wasn't a big fan of his, I wouldn't buy this, especially with Leo Santa Cruz being the co-feature. That's a real kick in the teeth.

If fans keep supporting all these trash ppv cards they will never stop. Just boycott this crap for a year to force the industry to change how they operate.

Always had huge respect for Keith. Especially the person. The fighter not so much nowadays. He has some nerve with this being PPV though, that’s for sure.

Under his analogy. Every fight should be a pay per view.

I would have complained. Ppv should be for mega fights. Just because it is a good fight between a couple of top 5 contenders doesnt mean it belongs on ppv.

Thurman vs Barrios is on PPV,not because of his "star" power but because PBC can longer afford to pay thier A-list fighters otherwise, so lets not kid ourselves Keith. Nothing about you or all these PPV fights from PBC are "rarefied" and deserve to be on PPV...the opposite actually. Thankfully Al didn't get his way and put Mell vs Castano on PPV as well but just goes to show that he's going to continue to try and exploit that model.

this is the type of mentality that causes fights like this to be on ppv. they know there are suckers who will buy it.
