  • Comments Thread For: Steve Geffrard Replaces Callum Johnson As Joe Smith's Opponent 1/15 On ESPN

Another training camp won't go to waste for Joe Smith Jr. Steve Geffrard agreed Friday to replace Callum Johnson as Smith's opponent January 15 in a main event ESPN will televise from Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona, New York. Geffrard (18-2, 12 KOs) is unknown and unproven at the championship level, but the 31-year-old Miami native is in shape because he was scheduled to fight Argentina's Gonzalo Andreasen (7-8, 6 KOs, 1 NC) in an eight-rounder Saturday night in Delray Beach, Florida.

Steve Jobs, Steve Wozniak, Steve Geffrard... Joe Smith doesn’t care. He wants all the bums out there.

Awfully convenient. Looks like Bob has his agenda in full swing. It’s very clear what he is doing here. It should be a guaranteed win for Joe, which keeps him in contention for……

He'll have to fight Yarde next, I assume, unless he unifies with Beterbiev.

Wrong answer my friend. Keep in mind that money moves not only opponents but sanctioning bodies. Next?

What a crap opponent they dug up out of no where. This bum slayer had a 7-8 record fighter next to fight until he got this call.

8 days notice. Not a terribly impressive replacement but I'm not going to slag them too much..Im sure Bob wasn't looking too hard for anyone too competitive but it's not like they infected Johnson with the Covid to get out of that fight...
