  • Comments Thread For: Kambosos: I Think Lopez Wants Nothing To Do With A Rematch; I Wish Him All The Best

George Kambosos Jr. doesn't expect Teofimo Lopez to fight him again. Based on Lopez's tepid reaction in the ring Saturday night and comments made Sunday morning by the former unified lightweight champion, Kambosos believes he'll head in a different direction for his first fight of 2022. Australia's Kambosos (20-0, 10 KOs) isn't contractually obligated to grant Lopez (16-1, 12 KOs) a second chance, but there obviously would be interest among fans and media in an immediate rematch of a 12-round, 135-pound championship bout Kambosos won by split decision.

Kambosos obviously has plenty of options now that he has produced perhaps boxing’s most significant upset of 2021. He holds the IBF, WBA, WBC “franchise” and WBO lightweight titles

???? I thought the "Franchise belt" couldn't be fought for???

Yeah I think there will be no rematch. Lopez would struggle to make this weight again.

        What is it with this?

Manny takes an L to Aussie Jeff Horn, ducks the rematch

Crawford gets a trigger stoppage on Horn, ducks the rematch

Teo takes an L to Aussie Kambosos, ducks the rematch

Is it that bad fighting these Aussies that nobody ever wants to run fights back?

Spouting things that are not reasonable or just plan fabrications may be early signs of dementia. Just sayn.

Weight is not an excuse, Teofimo was no-more tired than Kamboso, he got beat up and out boxed...simple as that.

Now that's a class guy. Showing respect and no hard feelings. I don't recall Lopez showing that energy towards Loma, after his win there.

Loving reading these Kambosos quotes. It's doing wonders for my Aussie accent, in my head at least
