  • Comments Thread For: Naoya Inoue-Aran Dipaen Set, December 14 At Kokugikan Arena In Tokyo

Naoya Inoue gets his long-awaited homecoming fight. The three-division and reigning WBA/IBF bantamweight titlist will headline a show in his native Japan for the first time since November 2019. The opportunity comes December 14, when Inoue defends his belts versus Thailand's Aran Dipaen (12-2, 11KOs) at the famed Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo.

Naoya Inoue out here cherrypicking and doing a voluntary defense against a guy ranked #55 on boxrec.

Where have they dragged this #55 guy from? His last 8 opponents have a combined loss record of 57 losses.

Everyone says Inoue this, Inoue that and now he’s fighting a dude who works at McDonalds.

David , Davis, Dipaen what ever his name is ffs

One of the worst mismatches of a top 5 p4p fighter doing a voluntary defense since Floyd-Berto and Golovkin-Martirosyan

Big Inoue fan but this is a terrible fight. This guy is blowing out top ten fighters in a few rounds, so this level of opponent is unnecessary. Hopefully cashimero or donaire are next up.

Couldn't agree more - Dipaen lost to Tommy Frank in 2019 at Super Fly and hasn't beaten or fought anyone of note since. Ridiculous title fight for a pound for pound fighter in Inoue.

This is a waste of time. At least Casimero fought rigo.

The eye is damaged forever from donaire. They are trying to give it a few years of healing

Nobody is asking for this. If it's such a problem to fight in Japan then make a fight overseas - in the Philippines or Mexico

Naoya Inoue gets a pass for Michael Dasmarinas, as he was Inoue's IBF mandatory four months ago. Credit to Naoya for traveling during COVID-19 to the United States of America. In fairness, I remember that Inoue vs. Casimero could not be made during the Corona pandemic, and that John Riel Casimero was basically stranded in the U.S and had to find a replacement.

Having said that, Aran Dipaen, is top three of the worst opponents that Naoya Inoue has faced in his short career ; to find an inferior foe in Inoue's resume one has to return to the beginning : fellow Thai Bunnam Thammakhun, which Naoya fought in his second professional bout, beats Aran Dipaen for the #1. spot of inferior opponents in the 'Monster's' career.

You have to question what is the basis for such poor opposition, does Inoue's team anticipate another big run in 2022 and want to be free of injury to face Casimero and Donaire? Considering its about to be November, and people are not focus in boxing during December you can also conclude that its that time of the year.
