  • Comments Thread For: Anthony Joshua vs. Oleksandr Usyk - Hardcore Fans' Delight

By Thomas Gerbasi - There will never be another Muhammad Ali. If you didn't know that already, one look at Ken Burns' documentary series on "The Greatest" is a good primer and reminder of that fact. But that's okay. Time moves on, and if there were 10 versions of Ali showing up after he threw his last punch, then we wouldn't remember what he did in and out of the ring and what he meant to a generation of people around the globe.

Nothing the HW division has to offer is catered to hard-core fans. Kenshiro Teraji, is defending the WBC 108 light-flyweight title against Masamichi Yabuki on Cantera Doga Pay-Per-View, in a few hours ; hola at a real hard-core fan when you ready to step your game up.

Usyk can definitely stop AJ. He can run him onto shots and push hard to drown him if AJ fatigues. He may not be a natural heavyweight but he’s still a big ol’ boi, and he’ll be able to do damage if the opportunity presents himself.

AJ isn’t a defensive wizard, he’s got a relatively good beard but when he’s hurt his senses pretty much abandon him. If you can avoid the clinch then you can tee off. I think that’s what really causes issues for him, if he was naturally better at riding the storm like Fury then he’d be a tough man to beat.

The best heavyweight in the world will do a number on usyk ......whether it’s by points or late round stoppage I see Joshua taking over and winning without controversy.
personally I think he will come in light on his feet with fast combinations and timing.
joshua is a whole different kettle of fish to what usyk has faced before and he will find out that Joshua is a lot harder to beat in the ring now than he was before.....and yes he got caught against Ruiz but you must remember he was 285lb so had a lot weight behind them punches....usyk will come in a bit heavier and Joshua will come in no more than 17 stone so I expect them to be no more than than 14lbs different.
This is a real fight ladies and gentlemen and not some force fed tripe that we are getting with Tyson fury and Deontay wilder.
This is the heavyweight fight of 2021

                Some good observations.

Usyk might have higher IQ but Josh fought better fighters so more experience in bag.

Definitely not Boxingscene’s self-proclaimed hardcore fans.

Boxingscene’s hardcore boxing fans hate every AJ fight, slurp Fury and Wilder, and they prefer Vietnamese, Chinese, Indian and Russian cards.
