  • Comments Thread For: Haye Shakes Head at Belfort: What's Impressive About Knocking Out a 58-Year-Old?

TBH I don't blame Belfort, I blame camp Evander, I just feel sickened, like sick in all ways. Evander shouldn't have taken the fight &, having took it, could've pulled out. I honestly don't know but for a man like Evander, with all the man has achieved, to go out like that was WRONG

Belfort's reputation took a hit in my book. Beating up a faded legend is very very disrespectful. I hope that Belfort fights someone more active and gets knocked out. De La Hoya would've did much better fighting Belfort.

I just couldn't believe what I was seeing, the way Belfort was beating his chest and shouting into the mic after the match. It was an undignified display from an uncivilised man. Compare that to the recent boxer v. boxer matches that ended in 1-sided blowouts. When Dubois blasted out his last opponent in two minutes there was no celebration, because he knew he'd been given an easy opponent levels below him and was probably a bit embarrassed. When Hrgovic recently defeated that guy with the 22-0 padded record, there was no jumping up and down for joy or screaming at a camera boasting about his win, because he realised he'd won no glory.

Belfort beat up a near-senile geezer, who was operating in slow-motion according to pretty much all observers. He set out to humiliate the guy when he didn't have to as it was essentially an exhibition. But the way he behaved afterwards made him look like a low class operator who doesn't know the meaning of the word "sportmanship".

I completely agree, Belfort was celebrating last night like he had done something special. Nothing special in beating up Grandpa.

Ballencrieff -he set out to humiliate the guy when he didn't have to as it was essentially an exhibition.

The question I'm asking is why was one of the greatest boxers of all time left in that utterly humiliating position? Once he got in the ring he can't have been surprised that Belfort went all attack-dog, there was nothing in the contract to prevent that. Was there? I've been alive since 1966 & I honestly think this was the most shameful, despicable, deplorable display I ever witnessed. It makes Ali fighting the Japanese wrestler look like an exhibition of great sportsmanship!

Belfort is a non boxer and nearly 50 himself. Get real guys, Evan Fields got smoked and it was humiliating. Nash out.

I hear what everyone is saying...and in the right context what David Haye is saying is very commendable. But remember...this is David Haye. He may just have heard that 30 million dollar callout and attempted to paint himself as the hero...hoping to get called up as the guy to give Belfort his comeuppance.

Evander did this to himself..and the people around him clearly dont give a damn about him..His reflexes are non existent, he has no balance at all and a quick burst of wind seems to be able to knock him down these days
