  • Comments Thread For: Manny Pacquiao Coach Justin Fortune Splits From Freddie Roach After Disparaging Remarks

Manny Pacquiao strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune has been a staple in the Filipino boxing icon's corner for better parts of the last two decades. Fortune is a former Australian heavyweight fighter who tallied a record of 15-9-2 and 9 KOs and trained under Roach before retiring in 2009, and he's worked in tandem with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach to help Pacquiao from 2001 until 2007, and again from 2013 till now.

Pacs legs weren’t were they were because of the fact that he’s in his 40s and hasn’t fought in 2 years. Make all the excuses and share the blame but pac is not what he once was and no trainer or strength and conditioning coach will defy Father Time.

His legs were a problem bc he is a 42 year old man and a person's legs just don't work the same at that age than when you are younger. Simple as that. That, coupled with a 2 year layoff probably didn't help either. No type of strength and conditioning is gonna offset old age. But there always has to be a scapegoat when something goes wrong.

It does seem like he has a good theory on not having a phsyio rub before a fight.

However, Fortune is known to talk some of that brash aussie smack talk, which not everyone takes kindly to.

Didn't Steward say this happened to Hearns before the Hagler fight? He regretted letting one of the trainers give Tommy's legs a rub down before the fight?

For the first time Manny needs to take control of his camp. Not when you see him control his friends when they go on the group run. He has that part locked up. I’m talking about taking control of the entire camp!

Start now by saying who is in and who is out.

Usually you are looking for trouble when the fighter runs the camp. I’m saying don’t control what you are told. Just control who is going to tell you and then listen to his instructions.
