  • Comments Thread For: Xander Zayas: I Want To Bring Something New To The Sport

By Thomas Gerbasi - On Sunday, September 5, Xander Zayas turns 19 years old. It feels like several years since he turned 18, and with a laugh, he agrees. "Tell me about it," said the affable Puerto Rican prospect, who makes his fourth start of the year on September 10th's Oscar Valdez-Robson Conceicao undercard.

Sounds like a respectable nice kid that also understands the entertainment portion of boxing. We need all of those we can get!

Kid literally says all the right things crazy he's only 19 . If he can pack the Garden with exciting fights like Cotto and Trinidad before him , boxing will be all the better .

Pull him out of the kiddie pool and take his training wheels off and lets see how he does against another prospect who will test him like in a ShoBox card.

1st he's only 19 , his opposition has been pretty good especially considering his age. 2nd James Martin was that prospect and he dominated him , James then went on to beat Vito .

TopRank is moving him along beautifully

James Martin was never an equal. I want to see prospects vs prospects in a pickem - thats how you tell who has the goods. Secondly, he is fighting guys over 19 years old so apparently the age is not a factor or a reason to not fight an equal on a card like a ShoBox type.

Age is a factor he's not even close to being fully develop you don't throw a teenager out to the wolves tf? His competition has been solid , every fight has been a step up at this rate he'll be highly ranked in a couple of years.

So if age is a factor, then he wouldn't be fighting guys in their 20's and 30's, simple as that. He would only be fighting teenagers. There is no reason he can't do like thousands of other fighters who are 10-0, 12-0,15-0 fighting each other on ShoBox. Prospect vs Prospect and the winner moves up the ranks. WHEN he fights an equal, then we will see what he is made of.
