LOS ANGELES -- Manny Pacquiao pummelled Oscar De La Hoya into retirement with a one-sided beating in 2008. The win elevated the Filipino fighter further into the sport's stratosphere. Thirteen years later, De La Hoya is days away from returning to the ring with a fight against former UFC champion Vitor Belfort, just as Pacquiao is days removed from suffering an upset loss to Yordenis Ugas.

    Truth

It's not all about record. He gave us the best entertainment in sports ever. The one man that made us feel the rush of pure crazy adrenalin that boxing fans crave.

Watch the Cotto, Barrera, Marquez, Morales and Margo fights. Listen to the crowd. They are gasping and screaming with excitement. That's greatness.

Manny is a once in lifetime fighter. Top 5 ever.

I agree with ODLH, he's Duran level. We won't see another fighter like him in our lifetime

That's quite a stretch, but he is definitely an all-time great. I wouldn't rate him above or as high as Robinson and the four kings, among others, but he sure was superb in his prime.

Unfortunately ODLH is a bitter old man. And nearly anything he says is charged with his agenda

DLH is an emotional man. One wonders if he was on hormones when he was in his drag stage….no matter what this is clearly a dig at Mayweather
