  • Comments Thread For: DiBella Rails Against Network Exclusivity: I Shouldn't Have To Go Through Anybody Else To Get A Deal

Lou DiBella is fed up being treated like a second-class citizen in the boxing world. The former HBO Sports executive and veteran boxing promoter recently appeared on the SI Boxing Podcast to vent his frustration at being shut out of opportunities to work directly with the sport's top television and streaming platforms. Although he has seen his influence wane in recent years, the New York-based DiBella still maintains a deep roster. The problem is that he has few outlets through which to exhibit his wares.

The sport has been a mess since before any of us were even born! Now that promoters are making less $ they wan't thing to change lol. That's like folks dying of covid begging doctors for the vaccine they called a hoax. To little to late.

Wish DAZN or ESPN would work with him , would deff help put better fights/Deeper cards etc . Want to see more fights closer to 50-50 98% of boxing fights are 90-10 or worse.

Lou if you're listening, hire some commentators, ring girls, and judges and run your own boxing events on a pre-existing platform like YouTube TV. Don't try to reinvent the wheel.

He doesn't have the fighters to make a TV worthy card without the big promoters does he? What draws does he have? Someone make a card with Di Bella fighters.

Interesting so it’s all promoters that are essentially doing in house shows. Now he’s looking for a network deal.

I will keep reiterating this- the network exclusive deals with boxers and promoters is what is killing the sport. Not until you get rid of these will anything change.

When networks have no exclusive deals and have to bid on fights, thus having to compete with each other, then fans will get the best fighting the best because those fights will generate the most money.

I don't know if Lou's a good promoter, because none of his former top fighters have been that well marketed. Bernard Hopkins wasn't happy with Di Bella.

Yeah that sucks that you have to "Talk To Arum" if you want to do business with ESPN or Talk to Eddie if you want to do business with DAZN. Espinoza seems to be willing to work with anybody at least but of course he has his relationship with Haymon and PBC. Amanda is on Jake Paul PPV which is great exposure for her at least so Espinoza is doing his job
