  • Comments Thread For: Joshua Franco In Line To Face Winner Of Estrada-Chocolatito Rubber Match, Per WBA Order

Joshua Franco is now in position to land a dream fight for his next ring appearance. Or at least an upgrade in title status. The current top-rated junior bantamweight is the latest benefactor of the current efforts by the World Boxing Association (WBA) to reduce the number of titlists within its organization. Franco defended a secondary version of the WBA 115-pound crown following a repeat win over Australia's Andrew Moloney (21-2, 14KOs; 1ND) in the final leg of their bizarre trilogy, which came this past Saturday at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. San Antonio's Franco went up 2-0 with one No-Decision in their three-fight set, with aspirations of moving on to bigger game.

The WBA cleaning up its act is long overdue. Surprised to see them taking action this quickly, but it's refreshing to see.

No knock on Franco, good for him that he's in line for a big fight with a top dog, but he ain't beating neither Estrada nor Gonzalez. He is a good fighter, but can't see anything in his arsenal that either of those guys will be troubled with. We'll see how serious the WBA is about this belt business. They're knocking off all the lesser-known guys with this BS, but still haven't done anything about Davis or LSC. Waiting to see what they do about the guys under Haymon's protection.

The winner of this fight was already supposed to fight the winner of Srisaket Sor Rungvisai vs Carlos Cuadras II. That's a much better fight so this WBA nonsense better not derail it.

Typical move by the WBA. SSR was already scheduled to face the winner between the two.

Will corrupt Mendoza also order Lee Wood vs. LSC? Or will his owner Alfredo say no?
