  • Comments Thread For: Keyshawn Davis Drops Split Decision To Andy Cruz, Claims Silver For USA At Men's Lightweight

Keyshawn Davis entered the Tokyo Olympics with the best shot at becoming the first American male boxer since 2004 to bring home a Gold medal. That goal fell one fight short, to an old amateur rival. Davis will take home a Silver medal for the U.S., following a decision in favor of Cuba's Andy Cruz in their men's lightweight division. Davis won 29-28 on one card, trumped by scores of 29-28 on four cards in favor of Cruz, who is now 4-0 versus Davis following his Gold medal haul Sunday afternoon at Kokugikan Arena in Tokyo.

Really good and competitive fight. I thought Cruz won it with the first minute of the 3rd round.

To beat a guy like Cruz, you need more than three rounds and need to break him down over the course of 12 rounds. Nonetheless, he's a hell of a fighter and congratulations to him! RJJ-94-02=GOAT

Good Fight! Both amazing fighters congrats to Cruz as well as Keyshawn Davis for good Olympic Runs. Look forward to seeing more of Keyshawn as a Pro and who knows hopefully we can get to see Cruz as a Pro before he gets too old, he still only 25

Cruz is probably 37 years old. Those Cuban birth certificates aren’t to be trusted.

we've got to do something about our amateur system here in the US. I hate seeing the lack of gold medals every 4 years. It's irritating.
