  • Comments Thread For: Hearn Feels WBA Should Strip Leo Santa Cruz, Elevate Leigh Wood

Eddie Hearn has called on the WBA to strip Leo Santa Cruz if the WBA "super" featherweight title to allow Leigh Wood to become their premier champion. Wood won the WBA "regular" title when he stopped Xu Can in the final round at Fight Camp on Saturday.

What Edward? so you can have another garbage champion, you have to get in the ring and fight for the belts

The WBA shouldn't have stripped Pacquiao. Now that there's a precedent, they would have to strip Santa Cruz if they want to stay consistent.

Smh. That was a big mistake. Now they will always be forced to elevate phony champions.

Lol. Hearn is trying to tell you that LSC hasn’t defended his Featherweight strap since Feb of 2019… what year is it buddy?

The wba just elevates and strips fighters whenever they want to.

The fact they stripped Pac opened a can of worms. I'm not against stripping the fighter if no defense is made but elevating another fighter is crap if you ask me. I feel any fighter should have to fight the best available opponent for the title after the champ is stripped.

Absolutely not, the Chinese boxer hadn't fought for an eternity either. Wood should have to face the best challenger for the full belt. The only way as I don't think LSC is coming back don to this weight, but elevate him outright! F no, Edward. Nash out.

Thurman said the WBA had mad favoritism to Floyd during his WBA Regular reign, he said the WBA couldn’t force Floyd to fight Thurman. That Super Champions can’t be ordered to fight the Regular. However, how was Haymon able to tell the WBA to mandate Super Champion Golovkin vs Regular Champion Jacobs? Jacobs was with Haymon…

is it because Haymon was hating that Hearn made profit off the GGG vs Brook mismatch? The WBA didn’t sanction the GGG vs Brook fight.

so how was the WBA able to mandate Super Champion vs Regular Champion? This happened!

                Notice that Haymon protected Floyd?

Haymon screwed Thurman a payday the way he has done with Plant…

in return Haymon gave Thurman the fights that made PBC bloom. One hell of a way to control a fighter’s destiny. It’s a good thing Thurman is open to all politics and keeps it 100. He always said politics was the reason why he didn’t get Floyd. A downlow diss to Haymon

BS. Santa Cruz has paid his dues and needs to be respected. no strip is needed in this case. just make them fight each other

Manny stripped of title by WBA for inactivity in January 2021 after last fighting in July 2019. So 17 months of inactivity.
Santa Cruz last fought in the division in February 2019. So nearly 30 months since he last fought in the division.

                    If there is any consistency...
