  • Comments Thread For: Coffie-Rice FOX Tripleheader Averaged 621,000 Viewers, Peaked At 696,000

A combination of Olympic competition on NBC and three low-profile fights led to FOX's lowest-rated boxing broadcast Saturday night since the network began paying for Premier Boxing Champions' content late in 2018. Nielsen Media Research revealed Tuesday that the three-bout "FOX PBC Fight Night" telecast drew an average of 621,000 viewers. A peak audience of 696,000 tuned in toward the end of an upset in the main event - Jonnie Rice's fifth-round, technical-knockout victory over heavily favored Michael Coffie at Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

Thats absolutely terrible. Love how the article started with excuses. Even if it was a heavyweight fight nobody wants to see two fat unknowns fight as a main event.

You definitely got what you paid for with that show. Clearly pbc had a GREATLY reduced budget from FOX

If those had been ESPN numbers they would be saying positive things about it.

This is why PBC was making 40 million dollars offers to Canelo. PBC is up on the chopping block later this year (Fox does not have any intentions to renew for the 4th option year) PBC was trying to lure Canelo into a multi fight deal so they can leverage Canelo to FOX to renew their Deal, without that deal PBC has no money to pay half their fighters. Canelo knows this which is whyhe was so adamant about no EXTENSION so PBC cant okie doke a 2 fight deal out of him.

Beterbiev vs. Gvozdyk had better numbers than this and everyone said those were horrible numbers.

Ya gotta chill out. These numbers were sorta expected because of the Olympics, hence the ****tiee card. Not much is expected next week either, which is why that's another low budget, low profile fights. These are nothing more than the network needing some inexpensive event to broadcast while most viewers are gravitated towards the Olympics.

Certain segments of so called boxing “fans” want to see haymon fail on n the USA. The man has never given an interview, doesn’t attack fighters, doesn’t feud with fighters, doesn’t claim to be taking over nations or the world, etc etc the tribalism fans just can’t stand his endeavours being successful
