  • Comments Thread For: Keyshawn Davis Secures Fourth Medal For USA; Men's Lightweight Semifinals Set

Keyshawn Davis once again powered his way to victory. This one takes him all the way to the medal round. Long regarded as the U.S. men's team's best shot at winning, Davis is now one fight away from fighting for that prize. The 22-year-old southpaw advanced to the semifinal round of the Tokyo Olympics following a split decision win over Gabil Mamedov (ROC). Davis won on four of the five scorecards (29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 29-28, 28-29) to become the first U.S. lightweight to medal since Terrance Cauthen won Bronze in 1996 Atlanta.

I posted in the Ragan thread but good performance in a rough fight. Davis has no punk in him and he's going to roughhouse you right back if you do it to him.

He keeps hurting these guys but can he hurt Cruz? May come down to just that.

Crazy to think team USA haven’t won a lightweight medal for 25 years. Especially when you consider the fighters they’ve produced around that weight class in the Pro’s.

Needs to get physical with Cruz, he’s filled out and is striver than he was in 2019. Needs to put it on him IMO. Cruz is one of the hardest guys to outbox over 3 rounds, I wanna see Davis pressing the action from round 1 Khyzniak style.

This fight was an embodiment of how poor officiating has plagued this olympics games. The ref was essentially non- existent, as the refs have been in a number of bouts (save for a well known fight where the ref went the opposite way). Bad showing for the refs as a whole.

The refs are all of a sudden clueless in Tokyo. It's like they drank too much sakč.

Japan by far the worst host nation in recent memory.
