  • Comments Thread For: Anderson Silva Shocks Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Boxes To Split Decision Win

Anderson Silva looked far more like a world-class boxer than his ex-middleweight champion opponent, carrying his skills over from the UFC cage to win a split decision over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. in their sanctioned eight-round bout on the Tribute to the Kings at Jalisco Stadium in Guadalajara, Mexico.

MMA legend Anderson "The Spider" Silva will fight outside of the Octagon for the first time since 2006. He will take on Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. in a professional boxing match in Guadalajara, Mexico, live on PPV Saturday, June 19th in an event titled “Tribute to the Kings”.

Silva will fight on the same card that sees the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. take on Hector “Machito” Camacho, Jr. in a special boxing exhibition. Also on the card will be Omar Chavez who will take on Ramon Alvarez in the rubber match of their trilogy.

That was pathetic from Omar Chavez. He could've easily overpowered Alvarez with his size but he just bumbled around not doing anything except absorbing punches.

I'm not watching but iirc one of Omar's earlier opponents died in the ring and ever since then Omar has never been the same since

For $30 I'm enjoying this show for what it is. Silva didn't just show up for a paycheck.
