  • Comments Thread For: Charlie Edwards Gives Update on Future Plans After Moving To Portugal

'THE EAGLE' Charlie Edwards has migrated to Portugal and believes his new nest in the Algarve is the ideal base as he plots his flight to the top of the super-flyweight division. The former WBC World Flyweight champion Edwards, 28, moved to Vilamoura with his wife Kristin and their baby daughter Sofia last month.

Leaving the UK, is the best decision Charlie Edwards has ever made. But he should of moved to Mexico, not Portugal, to toughen him up for the shark-infested division in boxing, the P4P Superfly weight class.

Maybe regrettable painful trauma caused by Julio Cesar Martinez, folding Charlie at the O2, made Edwards pack his bags and search for a place where people wont mock him for vacating the WBC flyweight title, instead of defending against Martinez for the second time. The UK seem to have made up their mind up about Edwards, QUITTER, is what the consensus is, maybe they are right.

Good luck in the new location, and good luck at 115LBs that will be a tough road there also all I know for sure is he put Martinez on the map with his loss to him. Be interesting to see what direction he goes in, did not get a clear picture of what direction he is going in other then 115 if I read it right.

It's gonna be tough to get a title at 115 Jerwin Ancajas & Joshua Franco (WBA Regular titlist) are probably the two weakest champs. Estrada & Ioka probably the two best.

I've always been surprised that the EBU don't sanction the super-flyweight division.

Can't get behind charlie Edwards after his weird celebration of keeping his title on a technicality when he got ko'd, used to be right behind him and kinda liked his swag although slightly cringe at times but his behaviour after the no contest was called is unforgivable, he was legit smiling like he's happy he kept his belt when he was clearly outclassed, any proper fighter would have been ashamed at being able to keep the belt even in the circumstances
