Comments Thread For: Liam Williams: Andrade a Very Good Fighter, Better Than I Thought, More Slippery
Middleweight contender Liam Williams put in a brave performance but came up short as he challenged Demetrius Andrade for his WBO middleweight title on Saturday night.

Andrade is incredibly awkward and difficult to fight. I was impressed by Williams as well. He kept getting ripped by those uppercuts but walked thru the majority of them after the 2nd. He looked to be throwing some heavy shots himself but none really landed clean on Demetrius. I wouldn't mind seeing Williams against Derevyanchenko. That would be violence.
Liam Williams was befuddled, he thought that he was in a ice-skating ring the way Boo effortlessly glided around him and evaded his attacks. What a treat to witness Demetrius masterfully beguile and score on Williams with every weapon in Andrade's arsenal -- I especially appreciated how Andrade probed and learned that Williams guard could be split down the middle : here 'Boo-Boo' fires a cross in between Williams guard ; its usefulness helps Demetrius select a lead uppercut on Liam's chin ; which could not miss throughout the fight.
Liam Williams went to American school of boxing, he wont find that lesson anywhere else.
Andrade looked good and Williams was tough but only one gear. Andrade leans on his back foot too much and that can be exploited. To Andrade's credit he did try to mix it up a few times and is why he got caught and got buzzed.
Did Williams really show anything other than that he's tough?
Well he wobbled Andrade a couple of times and forced him to hold 1,000 times? Andrade was gasping for breath at the midway point and had to really work for the win.
How the ref allowed him to hold that much is a crime. And when the ref came to warnings, he warned them both. If it was the other way round, Williams would have had points deducted and threatened with a DQ. People on here would have called him a coward. But funnily enough, they're not with Abdrade. Hmmm.
