Jermall Charlo will make another optional title defense June 19. Premier Boxing Champions and Showtime announced Thursday that Charlo will meet Mexico's Juan Macias Montiel in a "Showtime Championship Boxing" main event that night at a venue to be determined in Houston, Charlo's hometown. Mexico's Montiel is the WBC's fourth-rated middleweight contender for Charlo's championship.

Jermall is a joke and it's ridiculous that the WBC will allow this to be a title fight

Expected this right after he knocked James Kirkland out. Not a fan of this fight though, Jermall needs something better than this. Next fight better be a big one, Andrade, GGG...if not then move the hell up to 168

So Canelo is fighting the likes of Saunders and Charlo is fighting Montiel? Surely the Canelo haters will trash this and all Charlo has done at 160 right? No? They will turn a blind eye to this. Bunch of clowns.

What a waste of a career, this is 30 already. Seems this guy is taking the Crawford road of wasting you're career with less paper titles...

BS fight. Who TF wants to see this. Why not fight Mungia here or Murata in a unification. Andrade fights this weekend and would probably be ready to go again for a big fight in the summer. He could have even gone up to fight Jacobs or Benavidez

No surprise here. I have indicated this in one of my previous posts.
He has to take a stay busy fight to avoid ring rust. He won't take a tough fight at this point.
Problem is it will take another 6 - 8 months starting from June (which is still 2 months away)
before seeing him again in the ring. Assuming he will take a fight worth a damn.
This sport has become a huge joke. Takes ages to see so-called top fighters on prime time.
