  • Comments Thread For: Joe Smith Jr.-Maxim Vlasov ESPN Weigh-In Report From Tulsa

Two months later, Joe Smith Jr. and Maxim Vlasov are ready to fight. Both boxers made weight for their WBO light heavyweight title fight, which takes place Saturday evening live in front of a sold-out crowd at Osage Casino in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Smith (26-3, 21KOs) weighed 174.8 pounds in his bid to become just the fourth-ever boxer from Long Island (New York) to win a major title. Russia's Vlasov (45-3, 26KO) tipped the scale at 175 pounds for his first major title fight.

Smith is on fire right now. Vlasov is not bad but he has too many flaws for a puncher like ''The Beast''

    Joe by KO!

Smith is not the same since Bivol, he was learn a lot... Joe won his last 2 bouts against 2 tops contender(1 former champ) and he was really impressive against the favorite Alvarez.

So yes in my eyes, Joe is on fire!

This is a really good match up Vlasov is no pushover he is rangy and used to fight at Cruiserweight for a while where held his own and even knocked out some former world title challengers like Chakhkiev, Durodola and Sillakh. Not saying those guys were great because they all proved to be chinny but they were still highly ranked at one point and all add to accumulating good experience. Don't see it being an easy fight I think Smith takes it he has a great punch and seems to really want it I could see it looking like the Alvarez fight but I expect Vlasov to be competitive for some rounds.

He's made major improvements. It would be foolish to say otherwise. He impressed me against Eleider last summer.
