  • Comments Thread For: Thabiso Mchunu Outclasses Evgeny Tishchenko In WBC Cruiserweight Title Eliminator

The amateur and professional ranks are two different sports, and a success story in the amateurs might not be converted to a success story in the pros. This axiom has once again proven true, as WBC #1 ranked cruiserweight Thabiso "The Rock" Mchunu (23-5, 13 KOs) humbled 2016 Rio Olympics heavyweight gold medalist Evgueny Tishchenko (8-1, 6 KOs) by spoiling his perfect record with a convincing twelve-round unanimous decision. Mchunu retained his WBC Silver 200lb title and has reigning WBC champion Ilunga Makabu in his sights. The veteran contender is in possession for his second career challenge of the cruiserweight crown following a landslide win over Evgeny Tishchenko. Mchunu prevailed by scores of 117-111, 117-111 and 119-109 on the road Saturday at RCC Boxing Academy in Ekaterinburg, Russia.

Enormous card from Russia today with what should be a ton of fun, Russian level fights, capped off by the big cruiserweight fight between the top 2 WBC contenders. Be warned, 11 fights on this card, so the main event won't be for a while, but you can tune in right here on RCC's YT page.

Ataev had some success in the 3rd but kept getting pushed back by big counter hooks, 3-0 Shekhov

Great call Z, looking forward to this card but I didn't realise it started quite this early. Got a coupla things to take care of but then I'll be with it when I can hustle Ms Koba out the door (...and stick the kids on the XBox.. )
