Demetrius Andrade will have to wait for another hometown fight. BoxingScene.com has learned that Andrade's mandated WBO middleweight title defense against Liam Williams will be held April 17 at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Eddie Hearn, Andrade's promoter, explored bringing the DAZN card headlined by Andrade and Williams to Dunkin Donuts Center in Providence, Rhode Island, the city where Andrade was born and raised.

Andrade seems like a good dude. But he has one of the weakest defense resumes of any long standing champion.

I assume this is a mandatory defense but my best memories of Williams is he lost twice to Liam Smith who got stopped by Canelo in a pretty exciting fight. Should Andrade get past this and he should finally hopefully see him fight a big name. Hopefully.

Charlo really doesn't want that one. They offered minimum money for Andrade with the fight on PBC side of the street and he turned it down, I don't think Charlo is interested in unifications just a cash out and he wonders why no one outside the PBC is excited by him as a Canelo opponent.
I can't see what else Andrade can do to get that fight other than sign to the PBC on a long contract maybe .. apparently Charlo feels slighted at Andrade not fighting him earlier in his carear,
