  • Comments Thread For: Ryder: Canelo Won't Have Easy Night, Saunders Has Style To Beat Him

John Ryder believes that Billy Joe Saunders could cause Canelo Alvarez problems and make it a frustrating night for the Mexican superstar. WBC, WBA super middleweight champion Alvarez will take on undefeated WBO holder, Saunders, in a unification clash on May 8, with a venue to be announced, following his third round win over Avni Yildirim in Miami on Saturday.

True, but it’s likely more like Smith sees it, Saunders won’t be able to keep Canelo off him the whole 12, his power will not cut it.

Well that's fine saying that BJS has only one really good performance against Lemeux. He was lucky to get the win against Akavov whose nowhere in Canelo's league, you could argue it was an off night he underestimated him on the night fine that happens. To me he had a chance to show what his got against Andrade who in my humble opinion is probably the best at super behind Canelo but we know how that ended. To beat Canelo you need to have power to get his respect and BJS doesn't have that. I see Canelo winning between 7 to 9 rounds or a large UD.

It will be interesting to see who nel o would need to fight to be underdog. But bjs is about the toughest opponent for nelo whod be considered underdog against nelo. Bjs is an underdog but the toughest underdog and that's all you can ask of nelo.

the punching bag will last two rounds. clenelo is an embarrassment. real mexican warriors like chavez sr, Morales, Barrera, Saldivar, Canto, ramos, Lopez, Olivares, Sanchez, Zarate and Marquez fought the best and ducked nobody.

While Mexican boxers are rightfully celebrated around the world, some are more than a bit overrated, Olivarez is a good example. He had 13 losses -- nine of which he was knocked out cold. He was knocked out by Ignacio Madrid who had 3 wins and 2 losses, as well as by Rafael Gandaria who had a career record of 10 wins and 7 losses. Need I mention that Arguello knocked him into another atmosphere and so on. As for Zarate he had a tremendous punch but had a fondness for blocking punches with his face. It is hard to rank these "Mexican favorites" ahead of Saul Alvarez. As for Marquez, he was good, but avoid Morales and only fought Barrera when Barrera was well past his prime -- even then it was a very close fight. Incidentally, you and others fail to mention Mantequilla Napoles as one of the Mexican greats.

At least say who hes ducking? Funny how you don't hold your favs to the same standard, why no comments about Charlo,Or Tank or Andrade, or Crawford about fighting the best?(according to you only 1 mexican(the goat mex) is considered ducking despite fighting more back to back champs than anyone in history, when you're racist that is.....

I don't expect you to say whom hes ducking because its surely someone hed beat & not as good as who hes already beat,& surely someone who hasn't faced another champion yet in his career despite being older than ginger....(obviously Because hes damn near cleaned out 160-175 & might just clean those divisions out before he retires(he only hasn't beaten like 4 or 5 true champs in those divisions,& Charlo isn't a true mw champ yet despite being better than Andrade)

3 of 4 of Alvarez toughest opponents weren’t hitters: Floyd, Lara, and Trout

Smith & Saunders should've fought and Plant & Benavidez should fight.

Instead Canelo figjts all of them while they fight bums.
