Starfight Productions’ Fight Night At the Pavilion series closed out 2008 with a bang, as Derrick Samuels and Keith Thurman once again scored impressive wins in front of a sold out crowd at the A La Carte Pavilion in Tampa, FL.
In the main event, Derrick Samuels (16-4-1, 4KO) resumed his winning ways with a unanimous decision over Jason Davis (11-2) in their ten round junior welterweight bout. Samuels controlled the bout from beginning to end without trouble. Davis was badly hurt in the seventh round, but was able to regroup and survive the final three rounds. The win is Samuel’s third in 2008, though entering this fight coming off of a tough split decision loss to Marvin Cordova Jr last August.
In the co-feature, Keith ‘One Time’ Thurman (8-0, 8KO) remained unbeaten and continued his first round knockout streak by bringing an early end to Marcus Luck’s evening. Luck (9-16-1, 3KO) was knocked down with a massive body shot early and could never recover. Thurman dropped the journeyman twice more in forcing the stoppage.
