  • Espinosa: "Marquez vs. Vazquez Not Done"

Reports by various media outlets have stated that a super-fight between WBO Bantamweight champion Rafael Marquez and my fighter, WBC Super Bantamweight and "The Ring" World Champion, Israel Vazquez, is a done deal.

As it stands, we have not received contracts or discussed money, therefore, those reports are inaccurate.

It's been reported that Marquez vs. Vazquez will take place on April 7th on Showtime. As much as we would love for this explosive fight to take place on such a prestigious network, until business is discussed, finalized and we've reach a satisfactory agreement, it can't be considered official.

This is a fight that the public demands and that must be made in order to satisfy the thirst of boxing fans around the world. Make no mistake, we also want this fight to happen.

As much as all parties concerned want the fight to materialize, the fact of the matter is, it's not done until the contracts are signed, sealed and delivered. At this time, they are not.

    Thank You,
    Frank Espinoza
    Manager for Israel Vazquez www.espinozaboxingclub.com

No wonder that there's now talk that the De Leon- Bautista meeting may not push through as well.

It is said that De Leon's camp would rather have Daniel face Israel. A VEEP of Golden Boy was recently quoted as having said that this possibility is now explored vigorously.

Do you know anything about Vasquez-De Leon being eyed as alternative of Vasquez-Marquez, alphaqfrankie? And, is it as seriously considered as it has been reported?

To be honest...I'm optimistic that a Marquez-Vazquez will happen. Ponce is not being considered right now.
