The upcoming Miguel Cotto-'Canelo' Alvarez fight will be another chapter of the long-standing rivalry between Puerto Rico and Mexico.

Fight fans from those two countries who cannot wait until November 21 may temporarily satisfy their appetite with a solid bout on September 18.

Lightweight Jeffrey Fontanez and Marvin Quintero will square off in a 10 round bout, Golden Boy Promotions matchmaker Robert Diaz told BoxingScene.com.

The bout will headline an "L.A. Fight Club' card and will take place at the Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles. Estrella T.V. will begin its telecast at 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT.

Fontanez (16-1, 12 KOs) rebounded from his only loss as a pro last August by stopping the normally-durable Jose Hernandez in the first round on April 30.

The 23-year-old resides in Caguas, Puerto Rico and will be fighting for the second time in Southern California.

In his last bout on August 14, Quintero (27-6, 23 KOs) stopped Cesar De La Mora in the fifth round in his hometown of Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico.

Quintero's most significant bout took place in October of 2012, when he lost a 12 round split decision to then-IBF lightweight champion Miguel Vazquez.

Diaz said he is attempting to put together a bout between lightweight Carlos Morales (9-1-3, 3 KOs) of nearby Highland Park and Abner Cotto (18-3, 8 KOs) of Puerto Rico.

Golden Boy Promotions will promote the card.
