On June 18th, Golden Boy Promotion's LA Fight Club returns to Belasco Theatre in Los Angeles with Jeffrey Fontanez (16-1) facing Marvin Quintero (27-6) in the main event.

Fontanez, who is from Caguas, Puerto Rico, bounced back from his only career loss to stop Jose Hernandez in April. He said that he has had a great training camp and is ready for Friday.

"I had a very intense training camp. It was very hard training. We are very happy with the training and it will lead to a big win Friday against Quintero," said Fontanez.

The 23-year-old views Quintero, a former world title challenger, as a big opportunity. He believes a win will lead him to a title shot.

"He's a great fighter," said Fontanez. He's a high quality opponent and has a good name. We trained to win and we think this win will lead me to the next level of becoming a world champion which is the goal of every boxer."

Quintero is based in Tijuana, Mexico and Fontanez relishes the opportunity to once again be part of the storied Puerto Rico versus Mexico rivalry.

On November 21st Miguel Cotto faces Canelo Alvarez in a Puerto Rico versus Mexico mega-fight and Fontanez said his battle against Quintero will be the appetizer to hold over the fans who are anxiously awaiting that clash.

"We know about the rivalry and it is an honor for me to be part of this rivalry. Before Miguel Cotto fights Canelo Alvarez, there is going to be another war between Mexico and Puerto Rico this Friday. Make sure to watch," Fontanez told BoxingScene.com.

LA Fight Club is televised by Estrella TV.
