This past Thursday, it was an excellent night of boxing at the Blue Cross Arena in Rochester, New York, as Resnick Productions presented an action packed event.

In the fight of the night Frankie Figueroa (13-2) rallied down the stretch to outhustle Maximino Cuevas (7-3-1) to grab the Mundo Hispano welterweight title. It was a close pitched battle that had the fans in an uproar as both men gave their all.

Cuevas seemed to get the better of Figueroa in the early rounds by using his larger frame to gain the advantage. Sensing urgency late in the fight, Figueroa began to take it to Cuevas with hard power punches from various angles. The late rally paid off as Figueroa was able to win the decision on two of the three scorecards.

The judges had it  96-94 Figueroa, 97-94 Cuevas, and 98-92 Figueroa.

In other bouts:

Former Olympian Jose Cruz (11-1-2) stopped Pascali Adorno (9-5-2) in seven rounds to capture the Mundo Hispano super featherweight title. The referee, Charlie Fitch, called a halt to the action when felt Adorno had taken more than enough punishment.

In a battle of heavyweights, Jermell "The Truth" Barnes (17-11-1) fought David Polk (10-5-1), to a six round draw.

Kenny Abril (5-2-1) scored a six round unanimous decision over Sheldon Rudolph (4-5) in a battle of  welterweights. The scores were 59-55, 60-54 and 60-54, all for Abril.

Brooklyn prospect Apollo Welch (3-0) picked up a four round decision over Frank Layz (0-2) in a four round bout at the junior lightweight limit.

Junior welterweight Sammy Lopez (2-2) took a four round decision over Diego Villalba (1-5-1).
