Puerto Rico's Felix "Tito" Trinidad is on vacation with his family in Havana, Cuba. The former three division champion makes his second trip to Cuba. The first time Trinidad visited Cuba was in 1988 when he competed in an international tournament in Guantanamo, where he lost in the final bout against one of the best fighters in Cuban history: Mario Kindelan, a former world and Olympic champion.

Trinidad discussed a number of subjects, including the most popular topic that always comes up in most Trinidad interviews - the inability to stage a rematch with Oscar De La Hoya. On September 18, 1999, Trinidad and De La Hoya were both undefeated welterweight champions who clashed in one of the most lucrative pay-per-view battles in boxing history. Trinidad won a close twelve round majority decision, but many observers questioned the scores.

Because of the post-fight controversy, Trinidad wanted to set the record straight and tried to make a rematch with De La Hoya. According to the Puerto Rican star, De La Hoya rejected the rematch seven times.

"De La Hoya never wanted to give me a rematch. That fight was negotiated seven times. Seven times we discussed a second fight and we could never get it done because his team never wanted it, especially De la Hoya. I think he was afraid of my power and simply said no. Of all the Mexican fighters, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has been the greatest champion and there is no doubt that either," Trinidad said.
