Former three division world champion Felix "Tito" Trinidad believes Saul "Canelo" Alvarez (48-1-1, 34 KOs) will not only beat Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. (50-2-1, 32 KOs) - but the Puerto Rican legend expects him to win by knockout.

The two Mexican superstars will collide on Cinco de Mayo weekend, Saturday, May 6 in a twelve round battle to be contested at a catch-weight of 164.5 pounds. The event will be produced and distributed by HBO Pay-Per-View.

Trinidad has a lot of experience with going up in weight to take on bigger fighters. He made some quick moves when he jumped from 147 to 154 and then to 160 - as he captured titles along the way.

In this scenario, one fighter has to go up and another fighter has to go down to a weight he hasn't made in year. Chavez Jr. has not fought any lower than 167.5 since September 2012, while Canelo has been any higher than 155-pounds.

Trinidad believes the naturally much bigger Chavez Jr. will struggle with the weight.

"The weight is important. I'm going with Canelo Alvarez to win and I think the fight will be finished with a knockout. There is a difference in weight, but taking Chavez to 164 pounds is going to require some sacrifice. It will be a little uncomfortable for Chavez Jr.," said Trinidad to BoxingScene.com/Notifght.com .

"Canelo is a much younger undefeated fighter with a great desire to succeed and remain the champion that he is. He wants to be the number one pound-for-pound boxer in the sport. Chocolatito is number one, but who knows if Canelo is the number two."

Trinidad also said that he views middleweight king Gennady Golovkin as being a very tough out for both Mexican boxers.

"For either of them, it would be a very tough fight. Right now Golovkin is a little bit above both of them. He is undefeated and has a lot of defenses by knockout. I would have liked to have faced someone like Golovkin, but these are two different eras in boxing," Trinidad said.
