Casino de Monte Carlo Salle Medecin, Monte Carlo - For the International Boxing Federation Inter-Continental (IBF) light heavyweight title, 2120 Olympian Fanlong Meng (14-0, 9 KOs) stopped Frank Buglioni (22-4-1, 16 KOs) in the fifth round.

Buglioni was knocked out in one round in March by Callum Johnson, but bounced back with a sixth round stoppage of Emmanuel Feuzeu in July.

Meng picked up a TKO win over Chris Eppley in July, in what was his first bout of 2018. He fought three times in 2017 and four times in 2016.

Buglioni was coming forward and pressing the fight, with Meng being comfortable with being the counter-puncher on the back-foot.

In the early rounds, Buglioni was struggling to land clean punches with Meng keeping a very steady defense and landing solid punches in return.

In the fourth, Meng was landing solid punches that were doing damage. Meng was coming forward now and cut Buglioni on the bridge of the nose. He was sitting down on his punches and forcing the fight on Buglioni. The left hand was hitting Buglioni often.

Buglioni came out firing in the fifth round. He was throwing numerous combinations as Meng was forced to cover up. As the action played out, Buglioni suffered a bad cut above his right eye and a break was called for the ringside doctor to take a look. When the fight resumed, Meng was outboxing Buglioni with counters.

The referee called a break in the action for a second time in the fifth, as the cut grew worse on Buglioni. The doctor and referee decided to wave off the fight as the cut on Buglioni was too severe to allow the bout to continue.
