Editor's Note: A rep for the Phoenix Police Department has just released the following statement, to TMZ, regarding Mike Tyson's 4-year-old daughter:

"I was just advised by investigators that Exodus Tyson was pronounced deceased at 11:45 AM today at the hospital. Our sympathies go out to the family."

A few minutes ago we hugged my four year old daughter like we have never hugged her before.

As the father of seven children I understand how a few minutes can be a lifetime in the hectic world of children. There have been many occasions when a split second was the difference between a skinned knee and a fatal accident in my household. Young children hold no fear of life or understanding of danger.

One such accident happened in the Tyson household yesterday and tragically it has cost Exodus Tyson her life.

I have always been a strong critic of Iron Mike's career and his lifestyle but never in my wildest, frantic moments would I wish as some have posted on news sites harm to his child or any child.

One poster wrote that God visits harm on the children for the parents sins.

No person whom believes in any supreme being besides Satan himself would visit harm on Exodus Tyson for her father's past. I can not imagine a loving God wishing harm on a four year old for her father’s behavior. I can not fathom believing in a God that would do so.

Several years ago when my brother passed, I watched as my mother became sicker and basically changed. It is a disaster when a parent must bury their child, a debilitating and life altering event that none should suffer through  alone.

Whether you believe that Mike Tyson took boxing from the heights of popularity to the depths of obscurity as some have, whether you hate him or love him, you must support this family or lose your humanity completely.

The next several months for the Tyson family will be filled with trials and hardships that many cannot imagine and I truly pray that there is still Iron in Mike's veins so he can steel his family’s resolve and shelter them from thoughts of fault and blame.

May God nestle this family in his grace as they grieve.

On this fateful day I have become a Tyson supporter and am asking that you all do so as well.
