Rising Cuban heavyweight star Jose Angel Larduet (3-0) stopped Englishman Josh Sandland (5-3) in the first of scheduled six-rounder that headlined the "new" Universum's gym show last night in Hamburg. Sandland was down all in all six times before the towel came in. In the co-feature Senad Gashi (20-3) stopped Bosnian veteran Adnan Redzovic (21-5) in the fourth in another heavyweight fight.

Swedish light heavyweight Hampus Henriksson (5-0-1) overcame a bad cut to beat Georgian Nikolozi Gviniashvili (14-19-5) over six.

Henriksson might get an even tougher fight on the next Universum show scheduled for October 17, also in Hamburg, when he takes on Leon Bauer.

This show is again, according to abendblatt.de, is headlined by Larduet along with super welters Artem Harutyunyan vs Timo Schwarzkopf.

In Ruda Slaska, Poland, Silesia Boxing staged an interesting show featuring some tough journeymen fighting each other. At super welterweight Bartlomiej Grafka (22-38-4) drew against former EBU 147 lb champ Rafal Jackiewicz (51-27-3) in what is reported to have been a very tough fight.

In the main event Remigiusz Woz (13-4-1) won a split decision over Tomasz Gromadzki (10-5-1) to win the vacant Polish 175 lb title.

Friday (Sep 11) night in Budapest saw New School Promotion promote their inaugural show and all went well. In the main event super welter Balazs Bacskai (13-0) stopped Austrian veteran Gogi Knezevic (34-11-1) in the second.

Laszlo Toth, also at super welterweight, won a split decision over Gabor Gorbics in an eight rounder. Toth is now 29-5-1.

News: Croatian light heavyweight Marco Calic (11-0) takes on Joshua Buatsi (12-0) on October 4 in England with the vacant WBA Int' l title at stake. Calic is promoted by Fight Life in Sweden and is a very good fighter, top class as an amateur and has been a sparring partner for the likes of Artur Beterbiev.

Danish-Bosnian super middle Haris Dzindo (12-0) will make his US debut December 16 in Las Vegas on a show promoted by James Toney. J T Promotions also have a card scheduled for October 31 in Columbia, South Carolina, where Dzindo's stable mate Freddy Kiwitt (17-3) makes his US debut. If all goes well Freddy will fight December 16 as well. Kiwitt is currently residing in the UK but has his family in Flensburg, Germany.
