Former world champ Kiko Martinez (43-11-2) comes back after a brief retirement. He fights in Valladolid on September 24 against an opponent to be announced. A "big fight" is according to Espabox to materialize in the near future.

Martinez was last seen losing to IBF featherweight champ Josh Warrington after what can only be described as a robbery as the Englishman got away with several headbutts without the English referee taking notice.

It's official: The hot matchup between German super welters Jama Saidi (21-2) and Abass Baraou (12-1) goes ahead on September 10 in Wuppertal with the vacant EBU title at stake. 

AGON Sports won the purse bids for the right to stage the fight with an offer for 107,666 Euro while Wasserman Boxing bid 88,808 Euro.

BILD reports that former EBU lightweight champ Rene Weller, the former Golden Boy of German boxing, is in bad shape and is now living in a nursing home, The 69-year old was diagnosed with dementia in 2014 and sadly there is no cure and no way back from this condition.

Weller was back in the day one of the best fighters to come out of West Germany and while he was late to turn to professional boxing he won the EBU title in 1985. His official record is 55-1-2 but he kept active long after he was officially retired.

The annual show in Savonlinna, Finland, that was to go ahead on August 6 is cancelled due to poor ticket sales. The show had Aku Kanninen (10-1) defending the national light heavy title against Topias Lepo (4-1) as headliner.

Swedish super welterweight Simon Henriksson (7-3) is injured and out of the headliner of Armand Boxing Promotions show in Ystad, Sweden, August 20. Henriksson was lined up to fight Greek Panagioti Matsagkos (6-3).

The show will still go ahead though and features the likes of Swedish cruiserweight champ Samo Jangirov (7-3-2) and light heavyweight prospect Costas Nanga (3-0).

EBU middleweight champ Anderson Prestot (25-2) will defend the title against Italian Matteo Signani (31-6-3) in Italy on an OPI since 82 promotion with date and site to be announced.

Prestot won the title on a technical decision over Signani but the EBU ordered an immediate rematch as the doping procedures weren't followed.
