When former WBA 'regular' super welterweight champion Jack Culcay beat Howard Cospolite earlier this month, he was asked what he might do next and the reply was 'why not a showdown against Abass Baraou' - in what would be an excellent matchup and a German mega-fight featuring veteran vs. newcomer, young vs. old and you name it.

Now it appears that the fight is on its way with a deal close and might go ahead in the Havel studios in Berlin on August 26 on an AGON Sports promotion.

Baraou is 9-0 and is promoted by Team Sauerland while Culcay is 28-4 and a former Sauerland fighter. Both have had the still hospitalized Ulli Wegner as trainer and he tells BILD it will be an excellent fight but decline to pick a winner.

65 seconds - that was it all it took for Vaclav Pejsar (15-9) to stop David Vicena (12-18-2) to win vacant Czech cruiserweight title.

This fight headlined a big show at Pub Eden in Usti nad Labem and it was held outdoors with a crowd of about 600 in attendance - and yes it did begin to rain which caused a delay in the fighting.

In the co-feature heavyweight Tomas Salek (12-2) stopped veteran Tomas Mrazek (10-73-6).

....

Former WBO cruiser king Marco Huck (41-5-1) is in training for his first fight since May of 2019.

The plan is to have a comeback fight on the rooftop of Hotel Maritim in Braunlage in August, reports BILD. Huck is now campaigning as a heavyweight and is still the mandatory challenger for the vacant EBU title.

Huck Box Promotion won purse bids for a showdown against Olympic silver medal winner Joe Joyce - but then Huck, the fighter, suffered an injury and withdrew.

Then, Daniel Dubois entered the scene with Huck to face the winner of Joyce vs Dubois - which takes place in October.
