French light heavyweight Mathieu Bauderlique (20-1) is the new co-challenger for the vacant EBU title, with Russian Igor Mikhalkin in the other corner.

Bauderlique steps in for Callum Johnson, who signed with Queensberry Promotions and pulled out of a planned fight against Mikhalkin.

The EBU has set March 22 as the deadline for purse offers.

Bauderlique won a bronze medal in the 2016 Olympics in Rio. As a pro he had his career derailed after losing to unheralded Italian Dragan Lepei in 2017. He's won eight straight since then but the question mark around his chin still lingers. However, Mikhalkin is known to be an excellent boxer but lacking in the punch department.

Universum Box Promotion promotes their next event on April 24 with the site to be announced. BILD has revealed that Aram Haratyunyan (9-0) will return to action after 16 months and face Nicaraguan Oliver Flores with the vacant WBA International lightweight title at stake. Haratyunyan has previously campaigned as a super lightweight.

As to why this happened is still not clear, as there is a five year contract between the network and Queensberry, writes bokser.org.
