Chris Eubank Jr. admitted Thursday that some of the things Liam Smith said during their final press conference gave him some extra incentive to knock Smith out Saturday night.

Smith questioned Eubank’s sexuality and made fun of his upcoming opponent’s hair and beard during a press conference that became very personal before Sky Sports’ Andy Scott apologized for some of what was said. Eubank eventually countered by claiming that Smith cheats on his wife.

“You know, I used to think Tony Bellew was the biggest assh-le to come out of Liverpool,” Eubank said in reference to the former WBC cruiserweight champ. “But I think at this stage now, Liam has definitely taken that number one spot. Yeah, it’s impressive.”

Brighton’s Eubank, 33, and Liverpool’s Smith, 34, are scheduled to fight in a 12-round middleweight match Saturday night at AO Arena in Manchester, England.

Sky Sports Box Office will air Eubank-Smith as the main event of a pay-per-view show in the United Kingdom and Ireland (£19.95; 6 p.m. GMT). DAZN will stream the Eubank-Smith card in the United States, starting at 1 p.m. ET.

Most sportsbooks list Eubank (32-2, 23 KOs), who is trained by onetime pound-for-pound king Roy Jones Jr., as approximately a 3-1 favorite to beat Smith (32-3-1, 19 KOs), a former WBO junior middleweight champion.

Eubank initially laughed off Smith’s inferences about his sexual preference early in the press conference. He later launched his own personal attack, once Smith stated that Eubank’s hairline is fake.

“It’s a bit fruity, isn’t it,” Eubank said, “talking about another man’s hair and beard at a press conference? You’re asking me if I’m gay. You’re asking about my beard and my hair. I mean, I have a great barber. I can introduce you to him if you want, you know? If you wanna get personal with it, if you wanna get dark and personal with it, you know, talking about being gay and do I like girls, you know, I’ve been told by multiple sources that you cheat on your wife on the occasion, every occasion. You know, so glass houses, mate, you know? So, let’s just relax on the personal stuff, huh? I’d rather be gay than a cheat. How about that?”

Scott attempted to get the fighters to stick to talking about boxing, but Eubank explained that was no longer possible.

“There’s no lines anymore,” Eubank said. “We’re talking about – we’re here now. Let’s do it.”
