Marcos Escudero (10-1) and Joseph George first fought in September on a ShoBox card that George won by a controversial split decision.  One judge had the bout for Escudero 96-94 but was overruled by the other 2 judges who had it 97-94 and 97-9 in favor of George.

They will renew acquaintances on March 28th on the Luis Nery-Aaron Alameda undercard that will be part of a Showtime Boxing Special Edition tripleheader. The card takes place at the Park MGM in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Escudero has made an addition to his team for the rematch. He has enlisted the services of world class trainer Kevin Cunningham whose stable of fighters includes Erickson Lubin, Andre Dirrell, and several others.

Like many observers, Cunningham believes that Escudero should have been awarded the victory in September. However, he believes there are areas that the Argentinian can improve in and expects his fighter to put on a dominant performance in Las Vegas.

"Marcos is having a tremendous training camp. We’ve been in camp for 6 weeks with 4 weeks to go. He’s in camp getting great work from his stablemates Andre Dirrell and Steve Geffrard. Marcos is extremely excited and very grateful that his promoter Sampson (Lewkowicz) secured the rematch," Cunningham told BoxingScene.com.

"I’ve watched the fight several times and I had Marcos winning 7 out of 10 rounds. Showtime commentators Barry Tompkins and Steve Farhood - 2 of the most experienced commentators in boxing - scored it 8 rounds for Marcos and 2 rounds for George but 2 of the 3 judges saw it differently awarding George a split decision. I think this fight will be fight of the night. Marcos knows that he won the first fight. He also knows that there are some things he could’ve done differently. We’ve made a few adjustments and identified several of our opponent’s weaknesses. Marcos will be mentally and physically prepared to make the most of this opportunity March 28th."
