Two-division world champion Erislandy Lara is gearing up to make a defense of his WBA "regular" middleweight title against veteran Gary “Spike” O’Sullivan on May 28th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

The card will be headlined by a lightweight showdown between Gervonta 'Tank' Davis and Rolando 'Rolly' Romero.

Lara is looking to expand his standing at 160-pounds to secure a major fight.

“I feel strong at 160 pounds. I showed that in my last fight and I’ll show it again in this fight. I’m ready to display all of my skills once again," Lara said.

“Come May 28, when I come out victorious, I’m ready to fight the best in the division. I’m not even going to mention their names, because I’m tired of doing that. I’m just focused on getting in the ring with all the best fighters. People are avoiding me at 160 pounds just like they did at 154. I’m a tough matchup for anyone out there. That’s why they don’t want to fight me."

Lara is coming a brutal one-punch knockout of Thomas "Cornflake" LaManna.

O'Sullivan is a tough fighter, but's fallen short on the highest level - with defeats to Billy Joe Saunders, Chris Eubank Jr, David Lemieux and two years ago to Jaime Munguia in eleven rounds in Sn Antonio.

“I’m going to come out focused and do what I know how to do on fight night. Most importantly, I’ll leave the ring with my hand raised," Lara said.

“I couldn’t really tell you how O’Sullivan fights, that’s something I leave to my coaches. I’m just working to be at my best and show everyone what I can do on May 28.”
