The defeat that was suffered by Tijuana's Ivan Morales was the best thing that could happen to his career, according to his older brother and former four division world champion Erik "El Terrible" Morales.

Ivan (28-1, 16 KOs) suffered the first loss of his career on August 21 in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo, Mexico, when he fell short against Edgar "Power" Jimenez, but says he learned a lot from the experience.

"He knows the mistakes he made. Losing was the best thing that could have happened. Today we have the opportunity to improve the foundation, if he has the desire and strength to regain everything that was lost," said Erik.

He added that his brother must not only train and perform, but he needs to - "put his heart into it. Bring confidence, and he will see what was done in the gym will be worth it when he demonstrates everything in the ring."

He felt his brother was doing well in the contest, but ran out of gas in the later rounds.

"My brother was hitting him, but got tired. Jiminez has great attributes but brought a lot of stamina and endured the fight. We recognize the defeat, the work and effort of Jiminez, but we will work to vindicate that," Erik said.

Erik is confident that after three more solid fights, his brother will be right back in position to go after another regional title or even get in line for a world title opportunity.
