WBC junior welterweight champion Erik Morales (52-7, 36KOs) is planning to fight in Mexico in the month of December. A date of December 10 is being requested by Morales. The last two fights involving Morales have taken place in Las Vegas, but in 2010 all three of his fights took place on Mexican soil.

"We are going to fight in December, possibly on the 10th, which is a date I would like to close the year out with. I'm going to fight in Mexico, and I would like my fight to take place in a major location. When I returned last year, I fought in three major cities, Monterrey, Mexico City and Tijuana - and all three invloved major venues, the Arena Monterrey, la Plaza de Toros and Estadio Caliente," Morales said.

"We are currently discussing proposals, and it is very likely that my next fight is going to take place in my native Tijuana."

Regarding the recent statements that were made by WBA "regular" champion Marcos Maidana, who challenged Morales to a December rematch, the Mexican champion wasn't moved by the offer. He doesn't appear to be too interested in facing Maidana in December.

"Fights are made at the right moment and at the right time. When [Lucas] Matthysee fell out, I offered Maidana the opportunity to come in and fight with me [on September 17] and he didn't want to. Now it turns out that he wants to fight, but we'll see what happens," Morales said.
