Erick ‘Mini Pac-Man’ Rosa continues his aggressive march in the early stages of his promising career.

The 20-year old rookie strawweight went the full 10-round distance for the second time in as many pro fights, outboxing Nicaragua’s Byron Castellón in a unanimous decision win Wednesday evening at Hotel Catalonia Malecon Center in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Scores were 99-91, 98-92 and 97-93 in favor of Rosa, who made his pro debut in this very venue less than two months ago.

Rosa's win wound up serving as the makeshift main event. Puerto Rico's Wilfredo Mendez was forced to withdraw from his strawweight title defense versus Alexis Diaz due to falling ill sometime after making weight Tuesday evening.

Hailed by promoter Belgica Peña—the driving force of Shuan Boxing—as the next great star to come out of Dominican Republic, Rosa can expect to be matched tough every step of the way. The 5’2” southpaw from Santo Domingo outpointed Oscar Bermudez on October 24, eagerly returning to the ring just seven weeks later to take on a 32-fight veteran in Castellón who fought outside of his native Nicaragua for the first time.

Rosa worked the body in the early going, landing crisp shots downstairs along with straight left hands out of the southpaw stance. Castellón was willing to engage, taking the fight to the blue chip prospect in round two and at times getting the better of the action.

As the rounds went on, the supreme skillset of Rosa was on display. Rosa bit down and fought when necessary, smartly boxed when there didn’t exist the need to slug it out and never wilted no matter the pressure applied by Castellón.

Both fighters were sent to the canvas in the middle rounds, though neither instance was ruled a knockdown. Rosa handled the roughhousing well, smiling throughout the contest as he continued to work the body and fend off a determined Castellón when there came the need to play defense.

Castellón—best known for his four fights with countryman and former strawweight titlist Byron Rojas—falls to 15-14-3 (2KOs) with the loss, snapping a two fight win streak.

Rosa advances to 2-0 (0KOs) and already eyeing a title fight in 2021 if he gets his way. The aspiring strawweight is aiming to become the nation’s first-ever four-division world champion, with plans of winning belts all the way through junior bantamweight when all is said and done.

Earlier in the evening, Luis David Salazar (15-0) outlasted countryman Windry David Martinez (8-1) in an eight-round split decision win in their battle of unbeaten junior welterweights. Martinez won by score of 76-75 on the card of Oscar Peña, overruled by matching tallies of 78-73 turned in by judges Leonardo Cruz and Eduardo Recio.

As earlier reported by BoxingScene.com, the undercard also saw Amanda Serrano score a 1st round knockout of Dahiana Santana in their rematch at lightweight.

The show streamed live on Shuan Boxing’s YouTube channel.
