SAN ANTONIO – Eric Tudor went all eight rounds for the second straight time in his latest win.

The rising junior middleweight prospect pushed through an eight-pound weight disparity to outpoint Reggie Harris Jr. in the opening bout of a DAZN telecast Saturday evening from AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas. Scores were 77-74, 78-73 and 78-73 for Tudor, who scored an opening round knockdown and outboxed the scrappy Harris over the long haul.

The bout proceeded only after Ann Arbor, Michigan’s Harris honored a same-day weight cap after he was eight pounds over the limit at Friday’s weigh-in. Tudor overcame the physical weight disadvantage and relied on his supreme skillset to dominate much of the bout also avoid any serious trouble when his opponent was able to rally. Harris was floored in the opening round and remained on a knee for the full eight count before he rose to continue.

Tudor remained in control of the action. The 21-year-old Fort Lauderdale-based prospect kept Harris at his desired distance, using his jab to work his way inside.

Time was called as Harris lost his mouthpiece with less than one minute to go in round three. Tudor’s straight punches and accuracy bloodied the nose of Harris, who tried to target his opponent’s long and lean body but with minimal success.

Tudor worked his jab in round four and took a break from his business-like approach to have fun. Harris let his hands go as Tudor was pinned against the ropes. The unbeaten boxer dodged most of the incoming and playfully tapped each side of Harris’ head with both gloves as he smiled and posed for the crowd.

A similar sequence took place in round seven. Tudor landed several power shots before Harris rallied and connected with a left hook. Tudor was forced to cover up before he turned the tide and pushed the action back to center ring.

Harris gave it one last push in the eighth and final round. Tudor waded through a flurry from his squat foe to connect with straight right hands.

Tudor advanced to 9-0 (6KOs) with his second consecutive eight-round distance.

Headlining the show, Austin’s Floyd Schofield (14-0, 11KOs) will face Haskell Lydell Rhodes (28-4-1, 13KOs) in a scheduled ten-round lightweight contest.
