According to the Hucknall Dispatch, cruiserweight Shane McPhilbin is going to miss out on a title shot rematch that he's been eager to land - because Enzo Maccarinelli has relinquished the British championship.

McPhilbin lost the Lonsdale belt to Maccarinelli in controversial style when the first round was cut short by 47 seconds in their original bout. Enzo was on the verge of being knocked out but survived to win a twelve round unanimous decision.

The British Board of Boxing Control ordered a rematch that was due to take place in Wolverhampton last week. Maccarinelli suffered a training injury and the fight was canceled.

McPhilbin is now waiting to find out who he will fight for the vacant belt.
