It’s been more than a year since Ellie Scotney has enjoyed this quick of a turnaround.

Strangely, the miniscule 14-week gap between fights comes on the heels of her IBF junior featherweight title winning effort. The unbeaten 25-year-old will put up her IBF junior featherweight title versus Argentina's Laura Soledad Griffa this Saturday at OVO Arena Wembley in London.

“Something I’ve lacked in my career has been momentum,” Scotney noted during Thursday’s final pre-fight press conference. “To get this quick turnaround has been key for my career. I’m going to show you that from the fight we had in June, I’m a completely different one.”

Headlining the show, lineal and IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia (22-0, 17KOs) defends his crown versus unbeaten 6’6” challenger Jordan Thompson (15-0, 12KOs) in a scheduled 12-round contest.

Scotney (7-0, 0KOs) claimed her first major title after she dethroned Cherneka Johnson in a clear-cut points win on June 10 at this very venue. Saturday will mark the third straight fight at this location, less than an hour from her home in the Catford district of London.

The last time that Scotney was afforded a return to the ring barely three months after a win was last May, two fights before she entered the title stage. She went eight months between fights headed into her aforementioned title fight win over Johnson, which was supposed to have come three weeks prior in Dublin.

Now training as a major titlist and already back in the ring, the Shane McGuigan-trained Scotney has vowed a different kind of beast this weekend.

“I’ll stick to my boxing when I need to. If it comes to biting down, it’s a place I’m always willing to go,” noted Scotney.
